Use any Sim in modem
Generally, by default, it is not possible to use any Sim in CDMA modem. Like if your CDMA modem is from IDEA operator then you can use IDEA Sim only. Otherwise, if your modem is GSM modem like Micromax, Reliance 3G modem then you can use any Sim on them. But the confusion is still there that how to use any Sim in modem which is CDMA only. Yes, there is a solution through which you can able to use any Sim in CDMA modem too. Actually, modem means modulator and demodulator. The main work of a modem is to works as an access point to provide the access to internet in local devices like PC or Smartphone etc.
There will be various processes available to use any Sim in the modem. But we will talk about the two processes i.e. one by unlocking the CDMA modem and another without unlocking it. Both the process is available to run any CDMA with any Sim. As we told that by default GSM modem supports any Sim so here we will not discuss anything about GSM modems. So let’s start to know how to use any Sim in the modem (CDMA only).
How to use any Sim in modem? (CDMA modem only)
Basically, there are two processes available which you need to apply according to your need to use any Sim in the modem. As we told you that here we will show you the processes to use any Sim in CDMA modems only. Thus applying those steps we are going show you how to use any Sim in any CDMA modem.
First Process: By Unlocking the CDMA Modem:
This is the first process which you can apply to use any CDMA modem as a GSM modem to use any Sim. Here we will show you how to unlock any CDMA modem easily by using software named CDMA Workshop.
⦁ At first turn ON your PC and connect to the Internet to download the CDMA Workshop application. Go through any of your installed internet browsers and search for this app to download.
⦁ Once you completed the process of download this software on your PC now it is the time to install this software. Double click on the setup file of the CDMA Workshop software and thus it will start up the installation process.
⦁ After completing the installation process of this software, now connect your Modem which you want to Unlock.
⦁ Click on the Start button i.e. the Windows button on your PC and type the keyword device manager on the search box. After that, you will get the device manager icon on your search result which you need to click once.
⦁ On opening the device manager interface, on the left side, you will get the options from where you need to expand the Port option.
⦁ Now by expanding the Port option select in which port your Modem is connected.
⦁ Then open the installed CDMA Workshop software and then from the ‘Main’ menu choose the COM PORT in which the modem is connected and click to Connect.
⦁ Next to it choose the ‘Security’ Menu, where you will get SPC value i.e. to be input 000000 and click on SPC button and then send.
⦁ Now one pop up will appear which will show you that the SPC value is correct and Phone is Unlocked.
⦁ Next, to it open the ‘Other’ menu Tab like before and from R-UIM config choose R-UIM only and click on Write button.
⦁ That’s all now you can use any Sim card on your Modem easily. Sometimes may you cannot able to use some GSM Sim cards but you can use any CDMA Sim cards.
Second Process: Without Unlocking the CDMA Modem:
This is another process which will show you to use any Sim in Modem without unlocking it. Read out the below points to get know about the trick easily.
⦁ At first, the user need to download Nokia PC Suite and install it on their Computer.
⦁ Once you have installed it now insert one Sim card of different network provider rather than your default once.
⦁ Connect the dongle or the modem to the PC properly.
⦁ Once you insert or connect the modem with PC it will show you that the ‘Invalid Sim’ has been inserted. You need to ignore that message and close the default modem software.
⦁ Now open the Nokia PC Suite and then navigate from File>> Connect to the Internet.
⦁ Then click on the Settings icon (spanner like icon) to configure the settings.
⦁ Choose your modem from the drop-down list and insert the operator APN (Access Point Name). APN is available from your Network Provider.
⦁ Now you will get connected to the internet using Nokia PC Suite.
⦁ That’s all you are done now and use any Sim in your modem now.
So these are all about the process to use any Sim in the modem. As we told you that GSM modems usually support all Sim cards by default. But CDMA Sim card only supports single operator only. But using these above two methods you can able to use any Sim cards on those CDMA modems also.
